HUBLI:Prostitution in the twin-cities is getting organised and turning into ahigh-tech industry, with most prostitutes now operating from posh localities andusing hi-tech gadgets to make initial contact with clients to offer theirservices.
Reliable sources inthe police department confided that prostitution was no longer limited to dingylodges located in Janatha Bazaar and Hosur areas.

Several high-profile colonies,which have come up in the recent past, were now earning notoriety as new hubs ofprostitution. The growth in business can be gauged from the increase in thenumber of pimps always on the look-out to hook clients.
These pimps, instead ofworking clandestinely, are now openly approaching high-end hotels, restaurantsand cinema halls to advertise their services.
They accost prospectivecustomers who are well dressed and drive fancy cars. Call girls also try to luresuch people by sending provocative SMSs or e-mails.
Pimps, using their contacts inbanks and other offices, trace mobile numbers of such people and pass them on tothe call girls. A majority of their targets are migrant employees working forbanks and MNCs from Bangalore and other cities.
After agreeing on a price,clients pick up the girls and take them to their bungalows or any other place tocontinue their liaison.
Onesuch racket was busted on Tuesday by the Hubli police, with the arrest of a16-member gang operating from a two-storey bungalow located on Airport Road(Gokul Road).
Twelvegirls in their teens and three women, along with the kingpin, were arrested.Mobile phones and PCs were also seized from the house.
The police had received atipoff, and on confirming the information, sent a decoy customer. The kingpinpresented girls to the customer, and reportedly asked him to choose one.
The group was arrested justafter the deal was struck. The arrested girls belong to middle-class familiesand are moderately educated, the police said.
Of the 16, 12 girls are intheir teens and the rest are pimps. Interrogation revealed something moreshocking — that some known tele-serial actresses were also part of thetrade, which was being carried out on the outskirts of the city.
It catered to the needs of'pleasure-seekers' under the guise of running a paying guest accommodation forworking girls and women in their homes.
Investigations revealed thatthe trade was also going on at a number of places in other posh localities ofthe city.
The police say thatin spite of their knowledge, they were unable to proceed in the absence of aspecific complaint, and in certain cases, the nexus between prostitutes andpoliticians.
